Trilegiant Alliance and AOL Strengthened by New Marketing Agreements
Trilegiant Corporation and America Online (AOL) began working together in 1997 when it formed a marketing alliance through Cendant Corporation. That alliance was further strengthened when both companies entered an agreement for Trilegiant Marketing Services, a subsidiary of Trilegiant Corporation, to do marketing for AOL’s services. As a result of this agreement, Trilegiant and AOL strengthened and extended their membership relationship.
Part of the new agreement gave users of several AOL brands the chance to purchase goods and services at attractively discounted prices through the membership services of Trilegiant Corporation’s Shoppers Advantage, Travelers Advantage, Auto Vantage, and PrivacyGuard. A separate agreement named Trilegiant Marketing Services as the marketing authority for AOL services using various distribution channels.
Barry Schuler, America Online’s Chairman and CEO and Scott W. Bernstein, then President and CEO for Trilegiant both expressed their commitment in extending and strengthening their company’s alliance with one another in order to continue delivering quality consumer products and services. Schuler also explained that the new agreement was essential in satisfying their consumers by helping them continue to enjoy the privileges that come with popular membership services. For his part, Bernstein conveyed his excitement in utilizing and enhancing Trilegiant Marketing Services’ capabilities to spice up the marketing of AOL service.
America Online is considered the world’s leader in interactive services. The membership services company Trilegiant Corporation, on the other hand, was created by the past management team of Cendant Membership Services, Inc. and Cendant Incentives.
