Skyway Fishing Report after Work
Got off work early today and headed to the skyway. i got to the north pier aroun 3:45. Didn’t have a good feeling so i went to the south pier. I bought some shrimp and went to a favorite spot of mine. Rigged up and through out my first shrimp and I get hammered before it hits bottom, I pull up about an 8 inch snapp, unhook and back he went. I repeated this about 10 more times. I then see an extra large shrimp in the bucket so i sling him as far as i can. Fish on, in the rocks out and out of the rocks, back and forth, the fish felt like it was 100lbs with the tide ripping the way it was, finally I get him up and it’s about 17 inch fat snapper. I managed a few more 10 - 11 inch snapps. I did get broke off about 6 times, and I also lost to bigg stingrays that I snagged trying to get some shark bait for the 12/0. It was a good day, the bite was on, just not the keeper sizes I was looking for, I filleted the two bigg snapps and let the others go back to get bigger. As I was winding down puck shows up. I told him that the spot i was fishing held some nice grouper, he decides to give it a shot and no more than a minute after his line is out with a big sardine something nails it but no fish. I had to leave after that, but he did get another hit as i was leaving. Great day at the Pier. Check out my fishing pictures online.
