Retired Plastic Surgeon Dr. Joel Roskind to Follow Instructing
Although retired from his work as a plastic surgeon, Joel Roskind MD remains current in the medical sphere. In addition to instructing a case management class at Boston University Medical School, Dr. Joel Roskind will also be offering his services as a lecturer in the domains of practice management and facility accreditation.
Joel Roskind MD draws on a wealth of expertise that includes running a large, successful practice; functioning as an inspector for the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAASF); instructing at half a dozen medical schools and serving on a three-man plastic surgery team in the U.S. Navy.
He then joined the U.S. Navy and served as part of a three-man plastic surgery team. During that time, he traveled to Mexico to do surgery on underprivileged youngsters with congenital deformities. Also during that time, he began his instructing work at the University of California, San Diego. He has gone on to lecture at the Nassau University Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital, Cornell Medical School and the University Of Miami School Of Medicine. He will now be instructing for the second time at Boston University School of Medicine.
In addition to operating a busy plastic surgery practice specializing in body enhancements, Dr. Joel Roskind also developed a second specialty in facilities accreditation, eventually becoming an inspector for the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAASF), and is now teaching with clinics to help them achieve certification. He also took a good interest in practice management and now advises with physicians in the areas of hiring and training faculty, setting up electronic systems, error prevention and patient relations.
Fulfilling the trust that patients put in their physicians has always been a top priority for Joel Roskind MD. He feels that he can continue to contribute to best practices and patient safety in a broader and more comprehensive way through his work as a lecturer and advisor. When he is not instructing or consulting, Dr. Joel Roskind plans to pursue a personal interest in Judaic studies.
